He’s definitely a Draco with a very bird-like beak. Lovely grain and very fluid ripple to the wood. The clusters of embryonic branch nodes make nice wart-like bumps.
Here he is before varnishing. I think one of these days I’m going to leave it. Trouble is the grain does come out as well as you can see above. May look into polishing instead.
Here are some shots from the early stages. There’s some lovely under bark colour. As you carefully strip away the bark, it leaves this layer that informs you how the grain of the wood is going to behave.
